Treasures Foundation was established in 2009 with a vision to support vulnerable women on their release from prison by offering accommodation and pastoral support in a ‘halfway house’ in order to help them break cycles of addiction and offending and to build healthy relationships and reach their full potential.
The need for improved services for women in the criminal justice system was recognised in a report prepared by Baroness Corston in 2007.
Treasures Foundation is working in partnership with Stepping Stones, a charity with 20 years’ experience of providing holistic accommodation and support for men who have been released from prison to enable each person to move in to crime-free independent living. For more information about Stepping Stones (registered charity number 1085826) please see www.steppingstonestrust.org.uk.
Treasures Foundation and Stepping Stones have chosen a house in South London which is well suited to the project. The house will provide a home for four women.
